Why Safe Disposal Matters

PREVENT MISUSE Unused medications are one of the most common sources of prescription drug misuse. Between 2020 and 2024, Albany County recorded 23 drug overdose deaths involving opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and other medications.

PROTECT YOUR FAMILY Proper disposal keeps medications away from children, pets, and others who could accidentally ingest them. 87.5% of overdose deaths are accidental.

PROTECT WYOMING’S WATER Flushing medications can contaminate waterways and groundwater. Albany County residents rely on the water systems, making responsible disposal important for protecting our water resources.

Dispose of medications safely at a local return box, no questions asked.
